Daisy Davies claimed the final podium spot at Challenge Roth after delivering an outstanding all-round performance, saving her decisive move for the final 10 kilometres of the run.The Bianchi Pro athlete crossed the finish line in a time of 8:27:19, behind winner Alanis Siffert (SUI; 08:09:09) and runner-up Lucy Charles-Barclay (GBR; 08:16:41).

After winning IM South Africa earlier this season, Daisy Davies toed the line in Roth with confidence. She handled the non-wetsuit swim well as she exited the water in the first chase group, 1’45 down on the solo leader. On the bike, that group worked well together and closed down the deficit towards the front. At the 25k mark, Daisy was part of the lead group of 4 athletes. Siffert pushed the pace and broke away, while Davies made the measured decision to remain with the chase group. She stayed there until just beyond the halfway point, before taking control of fourth place and settling into her own rhythm, fully aware that there was still a long day ahead. The Bianchi Pro Triathlete held firm grip of 4th position in the second half of the bike to reach T2 with a 5’20 deficit over 3rd place.Just as on the bike, Daisy chose her own rhythm straight away. That resulted in a status-quo in deficit in the first 10k of the run. Once past the 15k mark is where the British athlete started to close down on Pohle in third. Halfway through the run, Davies had cut down that gap to 3’50. Having paced her race to perfection, she was able to hold on to her steady rhythm and kept coming closer and closer to that final podium spot. As Daisy ran into the ultimate 10k, she made the decisive move to take over 3rd place and make it her own. Giving her all towards the end, she crossed the finish line in a time of 8:27:19. A fantastic allround performance and second podium in as many full distances races this season.

Very happy to get on the podium

Daisy reflected proudly on her performance after the race: “I really wanted to focus on my own race today. Especially on the run I just focused on my pace and actually felt pretty strong. I am very happy to make it onto the podium and come away with this result."
